Tension first in the world with 5G app during OS in PyeongChang!
The Falun based company Tension has produced an OS app called KT Omniview for Korean KT Corporation, which was shown at PyeongChang during the world premiere of 5G. The app has been specifically tested for Samsung's 5G prototype, allowing users to follow 3D skiing trails with streaming live videos, races and real-time results. Behind all the data visualized in the app Ericsson stands as in previous cooperation with Tension during the World Cup in Falun 2015.
KT Corporation developed the world's first 5G network in Korea with a smash premiere during the Olympics. To demonstrate the technology, Tension was employed to develop the KT Omniview app, based on functionality featured during the World Championship World Cup in Falun 2015. During the Saturday skating athletics race, users were able to switch between 17 cameras and in real time follow the track from any contests perspective in 3D -environment. In addition to displaying positions for the 62 participants on the map with flags and names, the app can also be set to automatically select the closest camera for the rider followed.
"Today, we have seen Charlotte Kalla take home gold both in reality and virtual, it feels amazing here in Alpensia," says Magnus Björkman, CEO of Tension.
To develop KT Omniview, Tension has used Tension OnSite, a platform for software development that visualizes maps and events combined with real-time data for PC, Android, iOS and Sony PlayStation. The platform has been used for apps to include the World Cup 2015, Swedish Open and the Peace & Love festival. KT Omniview is available in both the regular version and the VR for the Samsung Gear VR. The app has not been released publicly but is demonstrated on-site during the PyeongChang Olympic Games in a local 5G network - the world's first.
Tension has collaborated with Ericsson in Sweden and Ericsson-LG in Korea for two years to develop KT Omniview, and the first version was tested during the 2010 OS. Ericsson stands for server technology and collecting all real-time data that is then streamed down and presented in app.

Biking Dalarna consists of seven destinations and a total of 106 kilometers of cross country leader, 23 miles of leisure cycling, 60 mile road cycling and 5 downhill trails.
This past Friday, some of us from Tension were at an exciting and interesting meeting together with Tomas Jons, Falu municipality, professional cyclist Emil Lindgren and Linnea Johansson from Biking Dalarna. We shared some ideas and talked about how to take biking into the future. This is very exciting and we are glad to be a part of it.
This has to be the year where you’ve heard the word Gamification the most? Am I right?
So what is Gamification? Well, how many of you play games? You play on your smartphone, TV or computer - or maybe you play games on all of them. Anyway, it is something most of us do, we just love games. The "gaming world" now includes almost all of us, and that’s really cool! We can all be a part of it!
So, why not use games in our daily work? Or in line at our local grocery store? Or when you're driving a car and want to use as little gas as possible? Gamification is used to increase engagement and it can be applied in many different kinds of industries. A simple example would be to enable the users of a system to earn different rewards, by collecting points when performing tickets or tasks. Gamification can also be used for educational purposes, where users will be able to quickly learn a system without reading from a manual, and get feedback faster. There is a bunch of different examples - and if you have more fun at work, then creativity and efficiency increase!
An example on how we at Tension work with gamification is Stora Enso Skutskär. They wished for “something” that kept the employees motivated, more focused and excited at the pulp manufacturing plant. They wanted to modernize their system for ease of use, and be more attractive to young people applying for jobs. And those new employees and substitute workers also had to find their way around the factory maze. And let’s not forget the safety issues! All this sounded like a real challenge.
To help them stay on top of their game, we at Tension developed a gamification project together with Stora Enso’s Fiber departement manager Lasse Aspelin. The result is an interactive 3D map of the factory's all pipes, machines and people, with routine information and any emergencies clearly displayed on a big screen. In the near future we hope to add more exciting things to the project so that the employees can start to earn rewards, get feedback quicker and to have more fun at work!

Our Pride breakfast is served!
Linnea Risinger visited us from Falu Pride culture association.
Glitter, flags and Love was splashed all around our big conferens room in the house aka Challenge. This is where the event was held.
Some of PlaygroundSquads supervisors enjoyed the range of breakfast options.
Everyone has a right to love, be who they want to be and do what makes them happy.
This is something we think is very important at the Tension house. So during Dala Pride week, we really wanted to do something special. Special we did, we held a Pride breakfast for anyone who wanted to join. Or as a clever person at Tension said on why a Pride breakfast was a great idea -
"We can't change the world right away, but we can take small steps together."
We had an idea of getting people together on Friday as a final touch before the Pride parade on Saturday. So we did! At 8:30 we filled our biggest event room with guests and had the pleasure of having Linnea Risinger here from Falu Pride culture association during our breakfast. She talked about Dala Pride festival as it is a intersectional norm critical festival that was launched in 2012 and how it has grown bigger every year since then.
Their goal is to awaken new thoughts from the visitors and question invasive thinking patterns, and they want to do that with personal stories, unexpected knowledge in unexpected forms, meetings between different kinds of people, cultural experiences, and by connecting different issues with each other so that we suddenly see new ways of dealing with ourselves and others.
Linnea also talked about what it can be like as a queer gamer, how people treat you online and women in the gaming industry. What an image of the classic gamer looks like and what the statistics look like this year for women in the industry. Have we become more women in the game industry or has it start to stagnate. What do you think? We know. What we also know is that according to the Swedish Game Industry Developer Index Report of 2016 the number of women working in the industry today is more than the number of men who worked in the industry ten years ago.
After a great breakfast we continued with a discussion regarding all of the topics we touched during Linneas speach, this time together with a local newspaper.
We made plans for the future. Exhiting things are coming up and we are very proud to be a part of that journey. It is time to roll up our shirt sleeves and get to work!
We want to stay in the front row. Exactly where we belong.
If you want to be a part of our next event or have questions about this event. Feel free to contact us.
A big THANK YOU to Linnea Risinger who came to the event! We are so happy for that!
If you are planning a visit to the Technical Museum in Stockholm you have to try out "The Ore Game" developed by us at Tension. In this mini-game you work in a modern mine and your mission is to break ore and get it all the way to the surface! You have about 3 minutes from start to end. It is a fun game to try out when visiting the exhibition.
The Mine is a permanent exhibition at the National Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm and it has been going through a major makeover recently. It now houses an entire new area where we you can interact with simulators, games, explosives and powerful machines. Something we are very happy to be a part of!
Nyheter i version 1.1.0- Uppdaterad version inför 2017.

Creative Director Mats and our CEO Magnus have arrived at DevCon in London, which is Sonys internal development forum for game developers that they work with.
Mats and Magnus will be showing some of the games that the PlaygroundSquad students have done and also the 3 games that were presented last friday by our 1st year students. So cool!
We had the privilege to have Anna Ekström, The Swedish Minister for Upper Secondary School and Adult Education and Training here for a visit on May 10th. We also had Susanne Norberg (S) here who is the Chair of the Executive Commitee here in Falun. Together we gave them a tour of the Tensionhouse and they also visited our higher vocational education PlaygroundSquad (YH-utbildning) where students are put in the fastlane towards the game industry.
90% of students who finish their higher vocational education (YH-utbildning) have jobs when they graduate. We are very proud to be a part of this statistics.
The PlaygroundSquad students have their graduation this upcoming friday so alot of things were in the making. Our visitors were given the opportunity to try out some of the games that are being presented May 12th. They even got a chance to speak with some of the students regarding PlaygroundSquad.
If you have questions about the visit or our higher vocational education, please contact Linnea Agné- Education manager at PlaygroundSquad.
Last week we attended The Interest Compound Bergslaget. The theme seminar for the day was to discuss the picture of Bergslagen. Our CEO Magnus Björkman talked about what we at Tension do, the game idustry and what the word gamification means and how we use it. Tension is involved with different kinds of projects where we use gamification.
We thank The Interest Compound Bergslaget for inviting us to be a part of this day.
2015 omsatte Turismen i Dalarna ca 7,1 miljarder.

This past Saturday we were at the Dalecarlia Music Awards to present the winner of This years Interactive Music- And Sound. PlaygroundSquad´s Education Manager Linnea Agné congratulated the winner Gum Viktor Ohlsson. The Dalecarlia Music Awards were held at Magasinet in Falun. Dalarna has a great music scene and we felt honored and proud to be a part of this night and to congratulate the winner of this cool category.
Race car driver Rasmus Mårthen came up with a cool idea for the PlaygroundSquad students in February, one of them would get to design his new Race car helmet. He wanted the helmet to represent Dalarna in a cool way, but maybe with something else than the classic Dalahorse.
The students had about a month to create a design and then Rasmus Mårthen would pick the one he thought would look great as the design for his new helmet. The lucky winner was Hannes Löwenberg. He´s a first year artist at PlaygroundSquad.
We asked him a few questions after he found out that Rasmus Mårthen choose his design.
How does it feel that he picked your design for his new helmet?
- It feels great, alot of people are going to see his helmet and it´s a good way to get my name out there.
Why did you want your design to end up on Rasmus Race car helmet?
-I´ve always been interested in racing and i think it´s really fun to design so I thought it was a cool idea from start.
What inspired you?
- The theme was Dalarna so i wanted the helmet to have a Eurasian eagle-owl on it since that´s Dalarnas landscape animal. I was thinking about the eagle-owl´s eyes, they have a strong yellow-orange color and that would really make the design pop out. The eye is also focused and gives a very dedicated feeling to the design and Rasmus Mårthen likes to win, so I thought that would be a awesome combo for his helmet.
This is so cool! We are happy to share with you that the pre production of the OS Korea 2018 app KT Omniview was made by us at Tension Technology. You can watch the trailer right here. ENJOY!
If you want to read more about the pre production and what KT said about this you can read it down below. We are very excited!
